SUMMER CAMP
 
Neilson Park Creative Centre is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable camp program. Our camps are facilitated Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm unless otherwise specified. Campers are welcome to arrive between 8:30 - 9:00am. Campers ages 5-7 will participate in art-making in the morning and supervised activities in the afternoon. While campers ages 8-12 will participate in art making all day. Each camp is limited to a maximum of 12 campers. There will be two 30-minute snack breaks and one-hour lunch break each day, facilitated both indoors and outdoors. Campers and camp staff welcome parents/guardians to attend a presentation every Friday at 3:30pm. Extended care is available between 4:00 – 5:30pm for an additional fee.
 

Staff Training: Camp staff members include the Programs Coordinator, counsellors, instructors and volunteers. Staff participate in comprehensive preparation prior to the start of camp that includes Standard First Aid, HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development, and inclusion and support training.

 

Health and Safety: All campers must return a completed health and general waiver form on the first day of camp. Campers must be signed-in every morning and signed-out every afternoon by a parent/guardian listed on the health and general waiver form. Photo identification will be requested at every sign-out. Parents/guardians must review any medication with the Programs Coordinator on the first day of camp. If a camper becomes ill, the parent/guardian will be notified. If the parent/guardian is not available, the emergency contact will be notified.

 

What to Wear and Bring: Campers should wear comfortable clothes that can get messy. We suggest packing a change of clothes and/or a smock. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen and closed shoes/sandals. Campers should bring a lunch and two snacks. Lunches should be ready-to-eat, as there is no access to kitchen appliances. Campers should not bring peanut/nut products. Campers should not share food items with one another. Campers are encouraged not to bring personal toys. Cell phones are to be safely stowed away. NPCC is not responsible for lost/stolen or damaged items.

 

Inclusion and Support: We welcome campers of all abilities to participate. If campers require one-on-one support for behavioural, personal or medical care, please call us for further information. Campers must comply with NPCC’s Code of Conduct – available on our website. Camp staff will discuss camp rules and expectations on the first day of each camp. Failure to comply with the rules and expectations may lead to dismissal from camp.
