JUNIORS (5–8 year olds)

 

Creative Journey with Toni Caldarone 

F10J1b • Saturday mornings Sept. 25–Dec. 4 (No class Oct. 9 & Nov. 27); 10:30 am–12:00 pm • $95

This popular course encourages younger children to experiment with a wide range of art materials while making 2D and 3D projects. A life-long love of art can start at any age!

 

KIDS 8 – 14 years old

 

Cartooning with Aaron Ong 

F10C1 • Tuesday afternoons Sept. 21–Nov. 23; 4:30–6:00 pm • $105

 

Whether it’s manga or animé, comic strip or graphic novel -- great characters are central to all forms of cartooning! This class is designed to help you invent and develop a character while learning key cartooning prin ciples like idea generation, silhouettes, unique character features and colour. By the end, you’ll have created your own fully-developed character! All levels welcome.

  

Artbreak! Mixed Media with Helen McCusker

Learn the FUNdamentals of making art while creating a variety of 2D and 3D projects. Students explore drawing skills, design basics, and a variety of painting and construction techniques in a positive, hands-on environment.

 

Kids Sculpt with Sara Dormody

F10C4 • Saturdays Sept. 18–Dec. 4 (No class Oct. 9 & Nov. 27); 1:00–3:00 pm • $140

 

In this well-loved class, students always have a wonderful time expressing themselves using multiple forms of 3D sculpture, including: clay, paper mache, construction paper, and much more!


 

Drawing and Painting with John Wood

Students will develop their skill and learn many techniques while working in these two fundamental mediums. This classic course seeks to inspire in young students a sense of curiosity and artistic purpose. Open to all levels.


 

TEENS (12 and up)

 

Lights! Camera! Action! Filmmaking with Chris Di Staulo

F10T3 • Sundays Sept. 19–Dec. 5  (No class Oct. 10 & Nov. 28); 1:00–4:00 pm • $210

 

Want to be a filmmaker or just love movies? In this fun new course, students will have the chance to produce their own film, develop a unique aesthetic style, and learn how to analyze motion picture. Aspiring young filmmakers and critics will be well on their way with all the basics of film production and cinematic theory. Please note: students must bring their own digital video camera, capable of taking video and of uploading to a computer via FireWire or USB.

 

 

PICTURE THIS! Cartooning & Storyboarding, for Teens & Adults

F10AT2 • Tuesday evenings, Sept. 21–Nov. 23; 6:30–8:30 pm • $140

 

Put your drawing and story-telling skills to work under the instruction of accomplished graphic artist, Aaron Ong. Long before there can be action on screen, the actors hired, or the cameras roll, the script must be pre-visualized by artists who draw scene-by-scene comic-style storyboards expressing the look and feel of the production. Progressing from rough sketches through to finished panels, students will learn to create these crucial artworks and how to maximize their visual impact. Get ready for some dramatic drawing!

Designed for students applying to Etobicoke School of  the Arts, Cardinal Carter, Cawthra etc. Find out what  works and what needs work. Get valuable information on everything from content to presentation. There  will be plenty of opportunity to work one-on-one with Louise and a different project each week to ensure  your portfolio is complete. Be sure to bring samples of  your work and sketchbooks.
