The Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto is a non-profit organization, run by volunteers for over 35 years. Funds generated from the membership, workshops and special events are used to further the goals of the Guild and its members.  Our aim is to provide opportunities for the study of calligraphy, to foster a spirit of cooperation and sharing of ideas and techniques and to encourage public awareness of fine lettering as both craft and art.

Membership

If you have an interest in the art of lettering and paper arts, The Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto (CAGT) welcomes you.  Membership is open to all, regardless of calligraphic ability.  CAGT membership fee is $100 paid directly to Neilson Park Creative Centre on a joint application form. A $75 portion of your fee is retained by NPCC to cover our resident membership fees.  Member benefits include:

• Access to programs featuring respected local and international speakers or member led presentations -- topics include lettering styles, techniques, materials and tools, history, reproduction techniques and design (traditional, contemporary and even modern digital graphic arts methods)
• Discount on Guild Courses and Workshop fees.  Courses you can take that run for several weeks in addition to regular Guild meetings (View Upcoming Courses and Workshops)
• Discount on Exhibitions to display, gain exposure and sell your art
• Receive periodic newsletters including ‘Scribblet’ and ‘Artists In The Park’
• Promotion of your artworks via a link from the NPCC members’ web page
• Promote and blog about your calligraphy artworks on our CAGT Group Blog, flickr site, and twitter account
• Free access to one of the best calligraphy libraries in all of Toronto, where you can borrow calligraphy and lettering books, periodicals, CDs, and even videos
• And join an amazing community of Calligraphy enthusiasts who meet monthly, held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm, 7:00pm social and library access.  We meet at the Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Drive, Etobicoke, ON M9C 1V7 (Google Maps)
