My paintings are my method of communication with people as an immigrant to Canada. Before moving to Canada, I had been living in a culture so different than that of Canada. I had to start over with everything including my language, job, even how to behave when I moved to Canada. Both countries, Korea and Canada, are my home but sometimes I feel rejected by some. It was challenging and difficult to adjust. Through my art, I am able to express myself and show the harmonious beauty of both cultures. Painting about my culture and feelings made me appreciate who I am and where I came from.
