A flame, a fire
I am working with the notions of place and motion and the idea that motion is an illusion. In these works, I create dreamlike paradoxical movement; like how in a dream distance is impossible to actually traverse, or how surroundings change yet motion is not occurring. By layering watercolour painting and cyanotype printing, I create visual and material depth so that the image contains narrative content and expressive value. I vary the expressive quality of the subject matter by varying the treatment and the level of abstraction. I create alternate flows of movement using space, line, colour, and figuration. |
