Bintana ng Nakaraan, Pintuan ng Bukas (Window to the Past, Door to the Future)

June 17 to July 6, 2025

Location:  Art Space Connect Gallery

Presented by: Philippine Artists Group

Reception: Saturday, June 21, from 1 pm to 4 pm

Art is more than just a visual expression—it is both a window and a door. A window to the past, where we gaze into the soul of our ancestors, their way of life, their untold stories, their dances, garments, rituals, and the colours of their everyday resilience. Through each brushstroke, line, and texture, we are reminded of who we are and where we come from—our roots deeply embedded in a rich tapestry of culture, heritage, and tradition.

But art is also a door to the future, opening us to growth, transformation, and reinterpretation. As artists, we carry our identities wherever we go—whether across islands or oceans—and our work becomes a vessel that holds fragments of home. The canvas evolves with us. It documents our transitions, struggles, and triumphs as we adapt and reconnect with our origins in a constantly changing world.

Bintana ng Nakaraan, Pintuan ng Bukas is a collective reflection of this journey. It celebrates how artists of today honour the past while shaping the future—expressing their roots not only through traditional forms but also through new perspectives, modern techniques, and personal narratives. It becomes a bridge between generations, a conversation between memory and possibility, and a tribute to how art keeps culture alive—no matter where we are.

“Through every stroke of colour, I revisit the voices of my ancestors and carry them forward—not only for myself but for the next generation. Art is my way of remembering, honouring, and dreaming.”
