This course looks at the city and urban life as the subject of paintings. Researching the work of artists like Richard Diebenkorn, Susan Heller, George Shaw and Martha Diamond, participants will be encouraged to explore the richness of urban visual experience. Although principally an acrylic painting class, a plurality of media is encouraged (drawing, collage, monotypes) and demonstrations and group critiques will be a regular feature of the classes.
