Have you always wanted to learn how to create beautiful mosaic artwork and practical items? Now you can! This session begins with a brief overview of mosaic art including a slide show of works from around the world. Next, students will learn all about tools, cutting techniques and process while creating a swatch board of samples as a reference (tools are provided for in-class use). The main mosaic project will include a small tray table-top to allow for participants to learn more about design technique, design transfer, adhesives, and application methods. A third project will allow for students to get creative with items brought from home for a unique and charming piece that will challenge skills. Elena is a visual artist rooted in glass and ceramic arts. She has collaborated with numerous communities creating murals and public art projects throughout Ontario.
